Chief Inspector Daniel Young

Daniel has 20 years’ experience in the animal welfare industry. For the past 15 years he has worked in the area of enforcement and compliance. As Chief Inspector, RSPCA Qld, he currently manages the Inspectorate department for the state of Queensland. His department is responsible for the rescue of sick and injured animals and for the enforcement of the Animal Care and Protection Act 2001 (ACPA).

During the course of his career as an Inspector, Daniel has been responsible for planning and executing numerous operations in relation to prohibited events such as dog fighting and cockfighting.

Daniel has spent the past 7 years growing the capabilities of the department to become one of the leading investigative organisations in the country with respect to animal welfare. Recently he formed a Taskforce dedicated to investigating Prohibited events after recognising firsthand the challenges associated with investigating such offences. The introduction of this Taskforce was the first of its kind for RSPCA. Prior to becoming an Inspector Daniel worked in the area of shelter management and has used his experience in the area to assist other animal organisations domestically and abroad.
